Nominated for an award as Best Actress at the 2022 Oscars 94th Academy Awards — Lancôme Ambassadress Penélope Cruz wore a regal navy-blue gown embellished with tweed elements to celebrate the occasion and walk the red carpet. To complement the look Penélope wore a soft glam makeup with a natural smoky eye and glossy nude lips. The look was created by celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury who explains “I wanted Penelope’s makeup magic to complement and enhance her incredible Chanel dress, so I created a mesmerizing smokey eye using the gorgeous, molten, bronzy tones to bring out the amber sparkle in her eyes. The sumptuous, pretty pink lip look also made her eyes pop!” - Charlotte Tilbury.

To prep and hydrate the skin prior to makeup hydration is the key. For a smooth base and hydration first prep skin with Lancôme Advanced Génifique Face Serum. For foundation Charlotte blended Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation in 350 all over to smooth out and even the skin tone and then applied Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear All Over Concealer in 355 under the eyes to add additional coverage.

To recreate the look Penélope wore add some contouring to the skin. For a similar effect use Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation Stick in a shade one to two shades darker than your natural skin tone. Apply to the areas the sun would naturally hit and underneath the cheekbones to create a contour and subtle bronzed glow. For the cheeks create a similar look to Penélope by applying Drama Ink Liquid Lipstick to the cheeks – this will create a subtle cheek stain effect.

To prep the eyelids Charlotte applied Lancôme Prime It Boost It all over the eyelid to prime the lid for long-wear. For the smoky eye look Charlotte used Lancôme Hypnôse 5-Color Eyeshadow Palette in Terre de Siene on the lids to create a beautiful bronze smokey eye. When creating a smokey eye it’s important to follow a smokey style pattern – start with the darkest shades at the base of the lashes and create a softer more blended style eyeshadow toward the crease of the eyes. For eyeliner Charlotte applied Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil in French Chocolate onto the upper lash line before tracing over top of the lash line with Lancôme Idôle Liner and then creating a defined feline flick. To complete the look Penélope finished off the eyes with a few coats of Lancôme Lash Idôle Mascara for voluminous, defined lashes that look lifted and fluttery.

To complement the soft glam makeup and smokey eye a nude lipstick is the best option. To create a similar look to what was worn by Penélope try Le Lip Liner in the shade 277 Charme. After lining the lips with lip liner recreate the look using Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Mademoiselle Penelope for the perfect pink pout.
